ABOUT THE

Trainer

My dogs helped me realize some training methods simply did not work and that’s when I found positive, reward-based training and everything clicked.

I’ve always had a soft spot for animals – a full blown obsession, really.

Early in my career, I spent ten years as a veterinary assistant. On top of assisting the veterinarians and technicians at the hospital, I also enjoyed learning about dog behavior, studying their body language and grew to learn that dogs have many ways of communicating their physical and emotional stress. I came to appreciate and enjoy the challenges that different dog’s behaviors presented. I loved when owners shared their stories about their dogs, particularly the struggles and triumphs of navigating their dog’s personalities and training experiences, their joys and sadness when things were difficult.

Over the years I explored different types of training methods with my own dogs, but something never quite felt right, until I had a series of my own reactive Australian Shepherds. My dogs helped me realize those training methods simply did not work and that’s when I found positive, reward-based training and everything clicked. I learned it’s not just about teaching behaviors – it’s about building trust, confidence, and a relationship you genuinely enjoy with your dog. And my dogs have thrived.

I worked with several Karen Pryor Academy trainers in St. Louis, deepening my passion for reward-based training, before moving to Wilmington in 2023, where I have continued training in the community.

I’m also a working mom, which means I get it. Life is busy, messy, and full of competing priorities – and you’re still trying to do right by your dog in the middle of it all. That’s why my training approach is realistic, practical, and designed to fit into your actual life (not some picture-perfect version of it).

I love helping families raise puppies and helping them see their adult dogs in a whole new light. Even if your dog is struggling or simply not quite “there” yet, please know they can become a confident, happy companion. With my background as a veterinary assistant and professional trainer, I bring a trained eye to every session – carefully observing behavior, body language and the full picture. You can feel confident knowing I use science-based, positive methods tailored to your individual dog – so you feel capable, informed and back in control.

I’m so glad you’re here… I can’t wait to work with you and have some fun while we’re at it! 🐾
